On the 09 November, Tauhara Primary School, helped us complete our 2017 propagation project.
We try and give different schools in the region the opportunity to raise funds, and had five schools who participated this year. They were joined by several retirement villages:
31 October – St Patricks Catholic School joined by Liston Heights
02 November – Wairakei Primary School and St John Woods
06 November – Mountview Primary and Summerset Village
09 November – Lake Taupo Christian School
10 November – Tauhara Primary and Wharerangi Rest Home
All of the plants potted up by the schools and residents, will be planted on the Estate , some of these plants help with stream bank erosion and filter nutrient runoff, or they will be planted in areas identified as riparian areas that have been retired and will not be used for pastoral farmland. The remainder of the plants will be planted around houses, sheds as well as creating future woodlands along roadsides.
We recognize the need to create a balance of exotic and native species to provide an environment which enhances water quality and contributes towards beautification.
They potted up Flaxes, Pittosporum, Manuka and Cabbage Trees.
